More about the SSE South West Social Entrepreneurs Programmes
Putting social enterprise at the heart of economic recovery and regeneration in South West England.
Social enterprises, community businesses and charities are well placed to drive and support a more cooperative, more localised and community led, equitable and sustainable economy.
The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) is leading an exciting programme of support across the region, funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund, in partnership with Somerset County Council, Devon County Council and the West of England Combined Authority.
Support is available in three areas:
Devon
Support for community businesses will continue with dozens of events and workshops around the County until June. Find details from our partners Devon Communities Together and New Prosperity Devon who are hosting these sessions.
In parallel to the CRF funded workshops, applications are also open for Devon Get Started – a learning programme to help people in most parts of Devon to turn an idea into a business.
Bath and North East Somerset
We have partnered with 3SG to continue free support for community businesses until the end of June 2022. There are 20 events and workshops (a mix of online, hybrid and in person) in Bath and North East Somerset over the next few months ranging from cyber security, managing finances, fundraising to scaling up. Details are available on 3SG’s website.
Somerset
Free workshops and events until June, run by Somerset Social Enterprise Network and Spark Somerset
SSE South West Social Entrepreneurs Programmes
SSE has started three month long learning programmes to support people in South West England to start up or grow a social enterprise, charity, community project or impact-led organisation. Unfortunately it is no longer possible to apply for these programmes. Please use the links above to find opportunities in your part of the South West, or search SSE’s courses to find the latest opportunities.
This programme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund, delivered by the School for Social Entrepreneurs in partnership with Somerset County Council, Devon County Council and the West of England Combined Authority.

We aim to make our learning opportunities open to all. Some funders do ask that we support people in certain areas and not others – click ‘Discover more’ and check details in your area.
Inclusivity is one of our core values, and everyone is welcome at SSE, including people who are long-term unemployed, ex-offenders, people with disabilities and people of all abilities. You don’t need any educational qualifications for this programme.
