Overview

A free programme tailored specifically for social enterprises working in or seeking to work in London’s health and life sciences sector, covering seven boroughs. The 10-week intensive programme equips participants with the necessary skills, mentorship, knowledge and connections to grow and scale their social enterprise while tackling health inequities in underserved communities.This exciting new accelerator is a collaboration between MedCity and the School for Social Entrepreneurs and is part of the Boosting Life Sciences Social Economy programme which is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.Participating boroughs include Camden, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark and Tower Hamlets.

 

This incubator programme has been an excellent opportunity to showcase the amazing talent in the social enterprise sector – a sector with a deep commitment to tackling inequalities, and to growing and retaining wealth within our communities

Who it’s For

The programme is open to organisations working in (or seeking to work in) one of the following London boroughs:

  • Camden
  • Hackney
  • Hammersmith and Fulham
  • Islington
  • Lambeth
  • Southwark
  • Tower Hamlets

The programme is accessible to senior leaders within an organisation. It doesn’t have to be the founder / CEO so offers an outstanding development opportunity to rising stars and emerging leaders within community health organisations. Types of organisation that we would expect to apply for the course include:

We are particularly looking to support entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds such as but not limited to racialised ethnicities, LGBTQIA+, disabled people, educationally or economically disadvantaged and female leaders.

What’s involved?

The programme consists of a series of in-person and online study sessions. Alongside these sessions, participants will receive:

·       1:1 mentoring support from experts in the health and life sciences space

·       1 x intensive business review panel (a business needs assessment and action plan)

·       Opportunity to apply for a £5,000 grant

·       Graduation and dinner networking event
