A key part of our programmes are ‘Witness sessions’ when students hear from inspirational speakers (witnesses) who have first-hand experience of the issues our students are facing. Like witnesses in a law court they give testimony about what it’s really like to start and grow social organisations. Our Witnesses are some of the most inspirational entrepreneurs around who take time out of their very busy lives to help our social entrepreneurs.  We’d like you to meet them and be inspired!

Bear Grylls? Pah: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You.

The SSE London team spent the day in a forest yesterday. We learned how to (sort of) start a fire, how to (sort of) walk like a fox and then we hunted a man playing a flute while we were blindfolded and barefoot in a forest. (Hmmm. I’m sure that it was chestnuts in the soup that we ate a lunchtime, but I might be wrong).

Huge thanks to SSE student Robert Fallon for hosting us at his project Wild Nature – highly recommended if you want to do some team building and pick up some survival skills.

Hands up if you’ve also been suffering with a cold? Yuck. I’ve definitely not been on top form. Based on the amount that I’ve spent with them this week, staff at Lemsip are going to have a lavish Christmas party this year. I have taken part in many events around the country and had conversations with many people about what they thought of email newsletters. Many people told me they thought that newsletters were too theatrical, that Have I Got Social Enterprise was out of touch and too theatrical, and they wanted things done differently. So I thought, in this newsletter, I would do it in a slightly different way.

So I sent out an email to thousands of people and asked them what questions they would like to put to Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You and I received 40,000 replies.

There is not time to ask 40,000 questions today, so here is a selection of those that came in…

Last Friday I sat in on our ‘Working with Corporates’ workshop. It was a super day, well attended by about twenty participants from various charities and social enterprises.
