Bunking off at the back of the class: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

Paper aeroplane

I shouldn’t really be writing this right now as I’m currently sat at the back of our Working with Corporates workshop and I’m supposed to be taking notes so that I can write a blog about it. Sneak preview: it’s an excellent course and you should definitely come on it.

If you happen to be reading this while you are in the workshop, tut tut, you should be paying attention. I’m going to tell on you.

Have a good weekend, and enjoy this week’s news.

Tergum ut schola: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

September. The end of the summer holidays. Groans around the country as seemingly endless sunny days grind to an abrupt halt. Yelps of pain as we squeeze into new shoes which rub painfully against our heels. Excitement as we put new pens into a new pencil case and wonder why on earth we need to pack a set square (seriously, have you ever needed one as an adult?).

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s back to school time…

Meet our witness Henry Stewart

Print

A key part of our programmes are ‘Witness sessions’ when students hear from inspirational speakers (witnesses) who have first-hand experience of the issues our students are facing. Like witnesses in a law court they give testimony about what it’s really like to start and grow social organisations. Our Witnesses are some of the most inspirational entrepreneurs around who take time out of their very busy lives to help our social entrepreneurs.  We’d like you to meet them and be inspired!

Ahoy me hearties: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

Tall Ship

Between 1519 and 1522 Juan Sebastián Elcano skippered the Victoria on a 42,000 mile journey through treacherous, uncharted seas to become the first ship to successfully navigate the globe. It was an epic journey, with only 18 of the original 250 crew successfully completing the trip.

This afternoon I will myself undertaking a similar journey, sailing the vast 2.1 miles between Greenwich and the Thames Barrier. I say ‘sailing’ – I’ll be on a boat with sails but I won’t have anything to do with piloting it. In fact I plan on sitting in the sun and having a couple of beers. A good way to start the bank holiday weekend!

Hope you have a super weekend too, and here’s this week’s news:
