Too many cooks, spoiling the broth: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

Do you remember what it was like before the internet, when people didn’t eat? Cast your mind back to the days when people wandered the streets forlornly holding a potato, unsure of what it was and what they were supposed to do with it. This week we almost returned to those primitive times as the BBC threatened to remove all of its recipes from the World Wide Web.  No more quinoa goji tabbouleh or poached peaches with zabaglione for you.

While the threat has passed for now, I thought wise to begin building an archive elsewhere, beginning with one of my own creations: Short Crust Social Enterprise Pie.

Bon appetit!

All For One: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

old-40092_640

Friday already? That came around quickly. Far too quickly for me to think of anything particularly interesting to write I’m afraid. I made a lazy attempt to seem relevant in the subject line and that was as far as I got. I don’t even have any weekend plans that I can tell you about. How dull. So we’d better just crack on and get on with the news…

Enjoy your weekend

Genuinely Useful For Once: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

placeit (9)

I come bearing gifts. There is loads of good stuff in this week’s newsletter – funding, job opportunities, competitions to win. I guess after however many months of producing the usual drivel one of them finally had to hit the mark. Monkeys and typewriters etc etc…

A point of administration – my wife is expecting a baby in three weeks so if there is a sudden interruption to the weekly missives that’s why. It’s not because I’ve finally been found out and asked to leave SSE. At least I hope not.

Enjoy the news, and have a super bank holiday weekend.

This week I have been without a television. We’re having building work done and it’s kicked up so much dust that it’s got into a circuit board or something similarly technical and now the TV doesn’t work. It’s awful. My evenings are empty. Things are so bad that my wife and I even found ourselves discussing whether to have a gate in the back garden or not. Bleak. I now have a four letter word to describe those people who say “Oh, we got rid of the TV and our lives have improved so much”: liar.

Anyway, if I did have a TV, here’s what I’d be watching tonight…

An ecosystem-creating conference of disruption: Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You

Capture

If you are reading this on Friday, chances are that you are not at Skoll World Forum. That’s alright, I’m not either. I wasn’t invited. But that’s ok, because I’ve decided to start my very own social enterprise conference, and you are invited. It’s going to be big – and I’ll save money by excluding the cheap poster prints the Skoll World Forum loves to blanket its conferences in. You can read a sneak preview below.
