Although it has attracted some criticism along the way, there is no doubt that TOMS is one of the world’s most recognised social enterprises. In this article founder Blake Mycoski talks about re-imagining the company’s mission – there’s some interesting stuff in there about scale versus purpose.
Typical. You wait all year for a crowdfunding course and then two come along at once: we’ve got one in London on 27th January and then in Birmingham on 10th February. Staying on the topic, Nesta are currently running a survey to understand crowdfunding within the community and voluntary sector.

Postcode Community Trust are offering grants of between £500 – £20,000 to ‘grassroots organisations, local charities and non-profit community businesses seeking to effect positive change within their local area’. Apply by January 29th.
Also handing out cash are First Utility Foundation, who ‘support projects and innovation which make life better for vulnerable families and individuals across the UK’. Applications open today.
Our friends at SEUK are hosting the Social Value Summit on February 11th at the British Medical Association. It has a very impressive speaker line-up.
